I found I could say things with color and shapes I couldn't say any other way

My style is bubbly and bright; as a photographer I have an affinity for all things colorful and kitsch. During the day I masquerade as a personal trainer and avid yoga practitioner which lends itself to my love of movement. The creation of shapes in nature and in life has led me to capturing others in their element and constantly looking to find magic in the mundane. I love playing with shadows, light and high contrasts and have the most fun showcasing my subjects in all their masterful glory. Click the images above to view galleries.

About

How long have you been a photographer?

I got into photography at a young age. I took my first photography class at Morris Brown College when I was 12 years old. In high school I interned for a wedding photographer, and when I was 18 my partner bought me my first DSLR camera. I went off to receive my degree in photography (with a minior in graphic design). After his death I moved back to Georgia to further my photography education at the Creative Circus.

What kind of photography do you specialize in?

When I was in school we studied a little bit of everything, so I've got knowledge in several different styles of photography. However, my concentrations are in food and product photography, so that makes up the majority of my non-yoga related work.

Who takes your yoga photos?

Unless otherwise specified, I do all my own yoga photography using my camera, tripod and bluetooth remote.

What gear do you use?

I shoot with the Nikon D500. I switch it up between lenses, but my favorites are the Sigma 24-105mm, Nikon 16-80mm and my Nikon 50mm.

Why do all your Instagram captions start with 'once upon a time'?

I wish I could say this was a totally original idea, but it wasn't. In a now defunct instagram account, director and advertising photographer Mike Mellia would begin his captions with 'That time when' and I thought that was just the most brilliant idea! I ran away with 'once upon a time' and the rest is history.

Can you take pictures for me?

Yep, I sure can! I do all types of photography for clients including portraits, headshots, events, and even yoga photos. If you'd like to schedule a photo session with me, feel free to contact me here.
